The whole bay of Estoril is a very nice flatwater spot thanks to the Island in front. The Wind is gusty at the start but once you are out it becomes pretty stable. If you dont fancy the waves you can easily avoid them too.
Liowa - Lioness
This point break wavespot for intermediate to professional riders offers high quality waves with sideshore conditions. Usually 1 - 3 meters in size, the waves break quiet hard and hollow. 3 - 4 cutbacks are the average and on big days the first break offers some barrels for experienced riders. Best time of the day is upcoming tide. Wavedirection for this spot to work properly should be NNW - NW with a minimum of 1.5m Swell. The waterdepth is around 2 meters on lowtide, so very safe!
Island of Sal Rei
Behind the Island you will find a very fast and consistent wave. Its reccomended for professionals only. The Wind is side-offshore and constant thanks to the low elevation of the Island. To reach this spot you can simply go downwind from Estoril but make sure that you are accompanied by other kiters or prefferable by boat support from the Planet Allsports Center for example. Best time of the day is upcoming tide. Wavedirection for this spot to work properly should be NNW - W with a minimum of 2m Swell. The waterdepth is less than a meter on lowtide. Be careful!
Sorry there where no waves when we took the footage. Updates will come as soon as the wave starts pumping again :)
Just left of Estoril Beach is the Reef with nice waves for beginners also without any pre-experience. This spot is perfect for surfing and SUP. If the Waves get bigger even the advanced rider will find very nice lines. the Winddirection is Off-Sideoffshore and behind the dune it can be very gusty. Best time of the day is upcoming tide but the reef works almost with all tides. Wavedirection for this spot to work properly should be NNW - NW - SW with a minimum of 1.m Swell. The waterdepth is less than a meter on lowtide. The reef is quiet safe and soft but beginners should definately wear shoes.
